Setting up the 3CX Fax Driver for 3CX Phone System for Windows on Windows 2008 server
3CX Fax Module on Windows Server 2008
The 3CX Fax Server depends on Microsoft Windows Fax services therefore the Fax role has to be added to the Server machine. This is done by accessing the Server Manager in Windows 2008.
Go to Control Panel and click on “Programs and Features”. Click on “Turn Windows Features On or Off”. The Windows 2008 Server Manager Display will show.
Click on Roles and proceed to add a new role. The Add Roles Wizard will appear. Under Select Server Roles, tick on the Fax Server.
Note : If Print Services are not installed, you will be prompted to install Print Services too. In this example, we assume Print services are already installed. Click on Next to proceed.
Select the Fax Users or Groups that you want to allow to send faxes using this server.
Select who can access the fax server inbox. Click Next to proceed to the Confirmation Page.
Click on the Install button in the Confirm Installation Page to install the Windows Fax Service on your server.
This will complete the addition of the Fax Server Role in Windows Server 2008.
Installing the 3CX Fax Server Driver on Windows 2008.
Run the 3CX Fax Server Application. This will install the 3CX Fax Server Driver on Windows 2008.
When the installation is complete, reopen Server Manager and expand the Fax Server tree display.
Under Devices and Providers you should be able to see the 3CX Fax Device as the Fax Sending Device for Outgoing faxes in the Devices section and in the Providers Section, you will also see the 3CX Fax Service Provider.
Under the Rules Section specify the Target Device from the drop down list – 3CX Fax Device 0. To add specific country dialing rules you will have to create a new rule.
Go to Control Panel and click on Printers.
Right click on the Fax printer available and click on Properties. Select Share this printer under the “Sharing” tab and press OK.
Users can connect to this printer and send faxes using the 3CX Fax Server installed on Windows Server 2008.
